Skirtellas is committed to making our Shopify store accessible and usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. We align our efforts with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA and continuously improve our experience across devices and assistive technologies.

1. Our Commitment

We believe fashion is for every body. Our goal is to provide an inclusive experience so customers can browse, select sizes, and check out independently and with ease. We review design, content, and code regularly to remove barriers and improve clarity.

2. Standards & Guidelines

  • WCAG 2.2 Level AA: We strive to conform to success criteria across perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust principles.
  • ARIA: We use WAI-ARIA attributes to enhance semantics for assistive technologies when native HTML is insufficient.
  • Shopify: We leverage Shopify’s secure, standards-based infrastructure and theme best practices.

3. Accessibility Features

  • Keyboard Navigation: Logical tab order, visible focus states, and access to menus, filters, size selectors, cart, and checkout without a mouse.
  • Headings & Landmarks: Clear h1–h3 structure and landmark roles for faster screen reader navigation.
  • Contrast & Color: Text and interactive elements targeted to meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratios; color is not the only means of conveying information.
  • Forms: Labeled inputs, associated errors, descriptive help text, and clear success/failure states.
  • Notifications: Important updates (e.g., “added to cart”) are conveyed to assistive tech via ARIA live regions where applicable.
  • Motion & Animations: Reduced motion respected when the OS “Reduce Motion” preference is enabled.
  • Responsive Layout: Accessible on mobile, tablet, and desktop with consistent navigation and controls.

4. Assistive Tech & Browser Support

We test common combinations, such as:

  • Windows: NVDA/JAWS with Chrome/Edge
  • macOS: VoiceOver with Safari/Chrome
  • iOS/iPadOS: VoiceOver with Safari/Chrome
  • Android: TalkBack with Chrome

If you encounter any issue with your setup, please let us know so we can prioritize fixes.

5. Images, Video & Multimedia

  • Alternative Text: Product and content imagery include descriptive alt text where meaningful.
  • Video: Marketing videos aim to include captions; essential information is not conveyed by audio alone.
  • Animations: Decorative motion avoids flashing content and adheres to safety guidelines.

6. Third-Party Content & Apps

Some features (e.g., reviews, live chat, payment methods) may be provided by third-party apps. While we carefully select vendors and request accessible implementations, we may not control every aspect of third-party code. If a third-party widget presents a barrier, contact us so we can assist or provide an alternative path.

  • Page URL(s) and a brief description of the problem
  • Your browser, device, and assistive technology (if applicable)

Response goal: We aim to acknowledge accessibility inquiries within 2 business days.

8. Reasonable Accommodations

10. Known Issues

We are actively addressing the following:

  • Occasional missing aria-label on third-party review stars in older browsers.
  • Live-chat widget focus trapping in rare cases; workaround: press Esc to close, then Tab to continue.
